- What are your hours of operation?
We are open Tues.-Sat., closed Sundays and Mondays. 10:00am - 5:30p.m.
After thanksgiving, we are open every day except Sundays.
We close the store from Christmas Day thru. Jan 10, 2005.
This is the only time we close the store for vacation.
- How should I send my fine watch to
you?
There are just 2 important things to firmly do.
First, properly
INSURE your watch for the value it would cost for you to
replace in the unlikely event it is lost. We recommend registered
mail (which includes us signing for the package) because
it is simply the most secure method for mailing items of
value. You can also use United Parcel Service; again, properly
insure for the value and require a signed signature. Please
remember to use a solid box and properly secure the box
with tape. Please do not send your watch in the original box that it came in.
Second, address your package either RJI or Suzie
Kochayan.
NEVER put jewelers on the box as this would certainly
make it more vulnerable to theft.
The address would then read:
RJI
1200 Fourth St.
San Rafael, CA 94901 |
Suzie Kochayan
1200 Fourth St.
San Rafael, CA 94901 |
Please remember to package your watch securely with plenty
of tissue, paper, or bubble wrap. You know you will have
packaged properly because the watch will absolutely not
move in the box.
- How do I communicate what's wrong with
the watch?
We recommend you use our convenient
prepared form that you can print out. If you wish
to rather write it in a note, please remember to include
the following pieces of information:
- Full Name
- Mailing Address
- Work Ph #
- Home Phone #
- Description of the problem or what you want to be done
- Email Address is optional
- How long does it take to get the estimate?
Is there a charge? What if I decide not to do the work?
We respond in about a week. Usually we call, but
we can also contact you by email. There is no charge for
the estimate. We simply bill you $15-$20 (depending on value
of your watch) to ship it back to you, properly insured.
- How long does it take to complete the
work?
Upon giving us the 'go ahead', it takes in most cases 3-4
weeks.
If this seems a bit longer than you anticipated, please understand that we approach our watch repair
quite differently from most watch repair sites. Unlike most sites that are essentially just
cleaning your watch, at Rafael Jewelers, it means we are replacing parts as well. At the very least, we will be replacing
the main spring and quite likely, other parts as well. This meticulous process means it simply takes a bit longer but the results are well worth it.
After reassembly, we then test the watch for a few days. We just do not take short cuts in the repair process because we know how important it is to you.
- Are the prices at Rafael Jewelers'
watch repair department competitive?
Yes!
If you compare the absolutely thorough manner with which
we approach watch servicing with replacing all necessary
parts from the manufacturer, we are extremely competitive.
There is a reason we have the expression, 'you get what
you pay for.'
- Do you provide a guarantee on watch repairs?
Rafael Jewelers provides a 1 year 'no fuss' guarantee on
our watch repairs. It is our expectation, that we will not
see your watch until its regular service, approximately
in 4-5 years, later.
